UW defeated San Diego earlier tonight, 64-49, to advance to the Paradise Jam Tournament title game. The Badgers will be up against a tough opponent - No. 2 Connecticut. The game will tip-off at 7:30 pm central time, and will air on FSN in Wisconsin.
The Huskies beat Miami tonight, 76-63. UConn (4-0) has also beaten Western Carolina, Hartford, and La Salle, and the Huskies are averaging 86.3 points in their first four games. UConn's center, Hasheem Thabeet, is 7'3" and will certainly pose a tough matchup for the Badgers. In UConn's win over Miami, Thabeet scored 19 points, had 14 rebounds, and 7 blocks - hopefully he tired himself out!
Last year, the Huskies finished 21-6, with a 10-4 record in the Big East. They, ironically, lost to San Diego in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament, 70-69. UConn's roster this year boasts 6 seniors and 5 juniors.

I watched the game (instead of the Packers) and they played pretty well. The problem all night was turnovers. UConn's gaurds were extremmely quick in the passing lanes. Overall, I was pleased with how they played. The quality of the referee's left something to be desired (like competence). I loved the way Rob Wilson attacked that 7'3" guy, going for 2 dunk attempts on him and getting fouled. Reminded me of Flowers with his attitude and toughness. Get this guy some minutes.

I was flipping back and forth between the two games until there was about 8 minutes left in the Badger game...by then UConn had pulled ahead and had a safe lead.
It wasn't as bad a loss as it could have been. Turning the ball over was definitely the number one problem - the full court press by UConn gave the Badgers trouble all night.
UW handled Thabeet (that 7'3" guy) pretty well, so maybe size won't be such a problem this year. I don't know if UW will see again a group of guards as talented as UConn's tonight - maybe Marquette? Purdue? Michigan State? But our guards didn't look very tough tonight...Flowers will missed for his defense, but he was also another option for handling the ball.
All in all, it could've been a worse night (see GB at NO).
